Simplified School Girl Spinning!

Here's a video of our motor spinning. It's from my camera phone so the quality stinks! We definitely saw the radiant spikes, although this was more a "proof of concept" than anything. We are quickly moving to a trifilar coil to better control the radiant dump to the batteries.

Notes from experiments 02 Dec 2007

We built and tested our first go at the Bedini Simplified Schoolgirl (SSG). We were unsuccessful in getting the motor freely running. We think this is because of two issues. First, our coil had 260 turns instead of the recommended ~900 (I ran out). I'm ordering the proper size magnet wire and winding this week. We're also ordering lots of "Ceramic 5" magnets for a re-vamp of the wheel. Our second potential issue was running the SSG from a lab power supply instead of a 12V battery. Once we got a good starting spin of the wheel, the PS would current limit.
